MIA in my craft room
I am still alive blog followers!
This week I have been working on a quilt tote bag. I promise I will post a picture when I am finished. I haven't sewn for years, mostly because of my back problem. I purged three totes of fabric but held onto my sewing and serger machines. My friend Barb (you know, the one that says patience is not one of my virtures) is a quilter. I am proud to say, my patience level has increased a little, but enough with that!
This is a picture of the tote from the free pattern available HERE at Joann.com.
I purchased my fabric earlier this year at Tuesday Mornings. You may remember I was working on a tote in June (my post). I didn't like how the nearly finished product turned out and after putting in more than forty hours, I threw it away. I am somewhat of a perfectionist and something that would take the average person an hour to do, takes me more than two. So far, I have twenty-five hours in my tote and I think, in the end, I will have another three hours in a small tote. I am blessed to be able to spend so much time crafting - all because my husband works hard so I can play hard.
I modified the pattern because the straps were not sewn inside the seams. I also modified the way the box bottom was made.

God Will Make a Way
I had to share this with you. This video was made by my friend Kim Dunn. The members of Jasper First United Methodist Church were so blessed to have Kim as part of their Celebration Service. Unfortunately, she no longer sings at our church. Her DYNAMIC voice is greatly missed - the service has a whole in it's heart. I MISS HER!
If you feel moved, please uplift Kim by leaving a comment on her video. You can do so by clicking on YouTube lower right hand side of the video.
Jesus hugs,
Beth

So Sorry, Field Flowers
Two - Step Stamping is a method I forget to use. This was the first time I used this stamp set. I made four cards and didn't discover my mistake until I started taking pictures. What is wrong with the card above? I forgot to place a flower on the one stem. I tried stamping a flower on the finished card and, of course, I messed them up. Oh, well - it is only paper! What else is wrong? The flower does not look good seated on the top stem (see bottom of post).
Stampin' Up! Products
- Dusty Durango cardstock
- Card base measures 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
- Ribbon strip measures 1/2" x 2 1/2"
- Old Olive cardstock
- Begin with a strip 1" x 4 3/4", then punch
- Very Vanilla cardstock
- Stamped layer measures 4 5/8" x 4 1/4"
- Scallop Edge Border Punch
- Field Flowers and So Sorry stamp sets
- Dusty Durango and Old Olive ink
- Multipurpose Liquid Glue* and Mini Glue Dots
Other Products
* Tie your bow with yarn and secure the bow with a small drop of glue, let dry.
This is my corrected card. Personally, I do not like how the Field Flowers stamp set was made.
- I feel that the stem layout is backwards. I would rather have the full bloom flower seated on the top. Stampin' Up! has designed the top of the stem to "hold" the bud of the flower. I don't like the finished result when placing the full bloom flower on the top portion of the stamp.
- It is very difficult to figure out what direction to "seat" the flower and the bud. I ended up marking the"top" of the flower stamps with a permanent marker so I don't struggle everytime I use the stamps.

Make your Thursdays - Thoughtful!

Thoughtful Thursday
I begin today's posting with an email I received from one of my blog followers:
Hi Beth,
I was reading some of your past posts and came across the ones regarding your deceased mother. She must have been quite a woman - very loving and caring. I know how much you must miss her.
My 47 year old daughter passed away very unexpectedly this past March. Oh I wish I could talk to my mother. I just wanted you to know how much your postings warmed my heart and I had a personal need to tell you that someone cares about you!
Love to one woman to another,
Sharon
Thank you Sharon for making my day. I have been out of commission for two weeks now. I had carpal surgery in August and haven't been in my craft room since then. The unexpected email made my day so much brighter. More importantly, Sharon's kind words made me realize that I had neglected to thank a few ladies who thought and prayed for me during my breast cancer diagnosis/surgeries/treatments. On Friday, I called and thanked someone for reaching out to me earlier this spring.
Sharon's email was sent on Thursday and that is why I created Thoughtful Thursday! Every Thursday (with God's help) I am Paying it Forward. Every Thursday I will either:
- Post a Comment to a someone's blog, OR
- Post a Comment to a YouTube video, OR
- Post a comment on a picture of a paper craft item added to a gallery (Splitcoaststampers is one of my favorite place), OR
- Email a stranger and tell them how much I appreciate reading her blog or seeing something in their card gallery
AND
- Every Thursday, I would like YOU to reach out to someone just like I am going to do. I don't want to know the details, but I would like to have your name so it can be entered in a drawing for a gift from me. Simply email me (click HERE) your name and tell me that you reached out to a someone today (no other details are necessary).
This Friday there will be two winners, one winner randomly picked from the email list and the second winner will be Sharon. So Sharon....I'll need your mailing address!
Gifts will range from a greeting card, tutorial by email, stamp set, party favor, etc.
This week's gift will be my Adobe File - Sentiment Greetings or Journal Printout Sheet. Just Click, Print and Punch (CPP) your sentiment using a 1-1/4" circle punch.
The Sentiment CPP files include these sentiments: Deepest Sympathy, Get Well Soon, Happy Birthday, Just for You, Praying for You, Thank You and Thinking of You. On one printed sheet you can punch out 42 total (7 of each sentiment) and one sheet with just Thank You.
