Creativity Can Take Months

I started making a Joy Fold Card in early November using my new favorite color combination Elegant Eggplant and More Mustard.  I prepared are the cardstock layers and I drew a blank on what stamp set I should use.  I pushed the cardstock pieces aside and waited, and waited, and waited until last week.  Over two months to create one card - seriously??  I am glad I didn't toss the cardstock pieces into my scrap bin to be used for another project.

I loved the card so much; I thought it would make a great Valentine's Day card using Basic Black and Real Red cardstock.

Joy Fold Basic Measurements

Card Bases (Basic Black)

• Main Card 8 1/2” x 4 1/4” (score at 5 1/2”)
• Smaller Card 3” x 8” (score at 4”)

Main Card Base Layers (Real Red)

• Main Card inside measures 5 1/4” x 4"
• Right side measures 2 3/4” x 4" (If you want your card to open differently, this layer would be on the left side.)

Smaller Card Layers (Whisper White)

• Outside and inside layers both measure 3 3/4” x 2 3/4”

Constructing the closure made for this card

• The 1" circle is glued to front of the card on the the right side of the card. 
• Layer together the 1/2" circle onto to the Boho Blossom flower, then glue them onto the 3/4" circle punch out.  Place a Dimensional on the back and attach to the 1" circle already glued to the card.

The Z Fold Card is a hot design on a few message boards.  The look is very similar to the Joy Fold Card; however, this stands on display much better than the Joy Fold.

Best Dad Ever - Joy Fold Card

Sometimes it takes me awhile to come up with a card.  Most times, I do end up wasting paper.  Even though this is frustrating, I find that the end result is worth the few pennies of cardstock.  This masculine card is a Joy Fold Card.  If you look at the picture you will see that there is a smaller card centered in the middle of the main card base.  I used a Hodgepodge Hardware to hold the smaller card closed.  The picture on the bottom shows the smaller card opened.

*I stamped in Versamark using the tie stamp (from the Best Dave Ever stamp set) onto cardstock, applied clear embossing powder and used a heat gun to set the embossing powder.  I then hand cut the ties out and used Dimensionals to attach them to the front of the card.

I found this fun fold on this VIDEO by Rachel, Stamp Your Art Out. Working with triangles is tricky, even when you logically think out your cardstock measurements.  I love layers, first layer being 1/4" smaller and the DSP layer being an additional 1/8" smaller. Those my angles did not come out perfect, I am happy with the results. I have BOLDED my measurement changes/additions compared to Rachel's.

This is my take on a card I say Rachel's video HERE. I decided to place DSP to the inside of the card. Since I LOVE layers, I added solid cardstock to this card. Most of my measurements are different than Rachel's.

When using Tear & Tape, I discovered a great way to help correctly attach a layer without having to permanently attach it. I pull loose a portion of the tape which only exposes a little adhesive. This allows for minor adjustments needed. This is the center card for this project.
