Best Dad Ever - Joy Fold Card

Sometimes it takes me awhile to come up with a card.  Most times, I do end up wasting paper.  Even though this is frustrating, I find that the end result is worth the few pennies of cardstock.  This masculine card is a Joy Fold Card.  If you look at the picture you will see that there is a smaller card centered in the middle of the main card base.  I used a Hodgepodge Hardware to hold the smaller card closed.  The picture on the bottom shows the smaller card opened.

Stampin' Up! Products
  • Sahara Sand card base
    • Main card - 8 1/2" x 4 1/4" (scored at 5 1/2")
    • Smaller card - 3" x 8" (scored at 4")
  • Layering Chocolate Chip cardstock
    • Main card inside measures 5 1/4" x 4"
    • Main card left side measures 2 3/4" x 4"
    • Smaller card measures 3 3/4" x 2 3/4" (cut two)
  • To the Nines Speciality Designer Series Paper
    • Main card inside measures 5" x 3 3/4"
    • Main card left side measures 2 1/2" x 3 3/4"
    • Smaller card front layer measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/2"
  • Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Sage Shadow and Sahara Sand cardstock*
  • Best Dad Ever and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets
  • Versamark ink
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Chocolate Chip ink
  • Decorative Label and Word Window punches
  • Dimensionals
  • Hodgepodge hardware
*I stamped in Versamark using the tie stamp (from the Best Dave Ever stamp set) onto cardstock, applied clear embossing powder and used a heat gun to set the embossing powder.  I then hand cut the ties out and used Dimensionals to attach them to the front of the card.

This card is available for purchase from me for $5.00 plus $1.25 shipping through Paypal.  Currently the card has Happy Father's Day; however, I can change it to Happy Birthday or Thinking of You.  If you wish to purchase this card, please email me.

Fabulous Florets

You will find this fabulous stamp set in the Summer Mini catalog from Stampin' Up!.  Catalog can be downloaded from the top of my blog page.

Stampin' Up! Products
  • Pacific Point card base
    • 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Basic Black cardstock Layer #1
    • 3 1/2" x 4 3/4"
  • Whisper White cardstock Layer #2
    • 3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
  • Fabulous Florets and Sincere Salutations stamp sets
  • Old Olive and Riding Hood Red ink
  • Dimensionals
The stem was first stamped on Layer #1 using Old Olive ink.  The flower was them stamped on top of the stem in Riding Hood Red ink.  On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the flower and the leaves.  I cut out the flower leaving a 1/16" inch edge and the leaves were cut without an edge.  Dimensionals were used to "pop up" the flower and leaves.

I have been asked if my cards are available for purchase; my answer is yes.  I will be posting a special section in my blog showing the cards I currently have available for purchase.  The card(s) can be mailed directly to you or I will mail them to your designated recipient.  Check back for more information regarding how you can purchase my cards.

Consider the Lilies

Every spring, the United Methodist Women (First United Methodist Church of Jasper) have a luncheon.  The theme this year was "Consider the Lilies."  Luke 12:27 reads, "Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these."

I enjoy making and giving party favors for the table that I host.  My special friends Gail C. and Barb E. were my guests.   I made everyone at my table a Post-it-Note purse holder and a miniature box of chocolates.  When I have time, I will post a picture of the Post-it-Note holder.

Alabama Tornadoes

If you haven't seen the tornado videos on television or YouTube, please see for yourself the size of the tornadoes that ripped through Alabama Wednesday night, click here.

We are fortunate that the tornadoes did not come through our town, however, we were without electricity for approximately fifty-four hours.  The worse part was not knowing, not seeing the television news reports because we didn't have electricity.

When our power was restored, I was able to see the magnitude of the destruction by watching the local news and videos on You Tube.  Please take a moment to pray for those who lost loved ones and lost their homes.

If you want to help the Alabama communities, Red Cross is taking donations.  You can visit http://www.redcross.org/ to donate, or instantly donate $10 by texting REDCROSS to 90999. You can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS.

New and Improved Post it Note Cover

I found some miniature pens on clearance after Christmas and I couldn't pass them up.  I wanted to incorporate the pen into my Post-it-Note Cover shown in this post and this post

I have seen videos and pictures of a similar cover, however, I wanted to incorporate the Velcro closure.  Adding a Velcro closure and a closing flap makes this perfect for carrying in the purse.  The flap and Velcro closure keep your Post-it-Notes from being mangled in the purse.

The picture tutorial with instructions and a diagram are available for the modest price of $2.79. Once your payment is processed, I will email you the three-page tutorial within twenty-four hours.
