Beyond the Garden XVI - Tutorial Now Available

Remember the Easel Post-it-Note holder I made in the post below?  I created a picture tutorial of the step-by-step instructions to create this.  I gave my prototype to my dentist's office to use.  I wanted to make sure that the easel remained secured without falling backwards from the weight of the embellishments.  I received several thumbs up by the staff and my tutorial is now available for a very small fee.  Only $1.99

Upon payment, your tutorial will be sent to you by email within 48 hours. I usually check my account twice a day; however, if you do not receive the instructions, please send me an EMAIL. The email will be sent to the one you have with Paypal, unless otherwise noted.

    Getting Ready for Heritage Festival

I have always wanted to have a booth at a craft show or art festival.  On October 16, I will have my first craft booth at the Heritage Festival in Jasper, Alabama.  To read more about the Heritage Festival, click here.

I love making cards and paper crafting.  Over the past few years I have made so many paper craft items that my craft closet and drawers are full.  I have over six shoe boxes full of handmade greeting cards.  I hope my first craft booth is a success.

As you well know, I love Stampin' Up! products.  I purchased the Night and Day Speciality Designer Series Paper a few years ago.  In this paper pack, one of the designs is black and white houndstooth.  When I saw the paper, I knew exactly how I would put it to good use.  The first item I created using this paper was an altered mini composition book.  When a Crimson Tide fan saw it, she had to have it!

When I decided to have booth at this year's festival, I dug out the remaining houndstooth patterned paper and created a Post-it-Note holder/covers that I hope will be a BIG hit.

A friend suggested I should offer to personalize with an initial.  I actually like the Post-it-Note holder with the flower.  What do you think?  Please post your vote in my comments section.

New and Improved Post it Note Cover

I found some miniature pens on clearance after Christmas and I couldn't pass them up.  I wanted to incorporate the pen into my Post-it-Note Cover shown in this post and this post

I have seen videos and pictures of a similar cover, however, I wanted to incorporate the Velcro closure.  Adding a Velcro closure and a closing flap makes this perfect for carrying in the purse.  The flap and Velcro closure keep your Post-it-Notes from being mangled in the purse.

The picture tutorial with instructions and a diagram are available for the modest price of $2.79. Once your payment is processed, I will email you the three-page tutorial within twenty-four hours.

    Consider the Lilies

Every spring, the United Methodist Women (First United Methodist Church of Jasper) have a luncheon.  The theme this year was "Consider the Lilies."  Luke 12:27 reads, "Consider how the lilies grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these."

I enjoy making and giving party favors for the table that I host.  My special friends Gail C. and Barb E. were my guests.   I made everyone at my table a Post-it-Note purse holder and a miniature box of chocolates.  When I have time, I will post a picture of the Post-it-Note holder.

    Blog Inspiration and Stampin' Up!

I would like to thank all my subscribers that have admired my work and have used my free instructions to help them with creating their own cards and/or teaching others. I started my blog in September 2008.  For eleven years I have been inspiring card makers with free ideas and instructions.

With all most postings and free instructions, I have had one consistent customer from my blog.  All in all, I only had one other person to place an order.  Stampin' Up! has quarterly minimums and I am shy a few dollars for the quarter ending September 30, 2019.

It takes time and money to create a blog post with free instructions.  I purchase all of my material and note down all the dimensions as I create a card.  Many of my cards have taken two hours to create because I am also making the blog post as I create. Taking a picture, editing it and uploading takes time. This card mentioned in my blog post from earlier today took three hours to create and post on my blog.

Unfortunately in my community, literally NO ONE is interested in creating cards.  I receive compliments and I do make a sale (of my handmade cards)  here or there but no one will attend a workshop whether it is free or at a small cost. I have not created YouTube videos because of the dedicated time that it would take and the revenue generated from my time would be zero.

If you do not have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator, I would appreciate your business. Please shop HERE and use my Hostess Code located at the top right of my blog. You will receive a free card in the mail and a discount on your next purchase.

Beginning on Saturday, September 21 I will a blog post series centered around Stampin' Up!'s Magnolia Lane Memories & More Card Pack and Large Specialty Cards & Envelopes. There will be ten projects in this series and they will be available FREE with your purchase of $35 or more from me, using the Hostess Code located at the top right hand corner of my blog. Order must be placed by Friday, September 20*.

If you are viewing this blog post after Friday, September 20, 2019 and would like to have my Magnolia Lane Series, please email me HERE.

I use liquid glue on 90% of my cards now. It is economical and I believe it holds layers together better. I glued the DSP down first, stamped the sentiment and then I applied to glue to the WW layer and placed down the embossed layer.
