When I just can't seem to create a card from scratch, I use card maps. I used this card map by Create with Connie and Mary. Using card maps can be a challenge, but the rewards (creating your own card) are worth it. I give myself an F on this my first try. But wait to you see my second card!

Ah yes, sometimes it's best to let it simmer for awhile and come back too, had to do it many a time myself ;). Both cards are pretty, but I must admit I like the second better too.
