Stampin' Up! is getting a makeover

Stampin' Up! conducted a survey and found that there are colors in the color families that have very low sales.  They also asked demonstrators and found their opinions to be the same.  Many demonstrators and customers requested the return of some of the temporary InColors.  Put this information together and a new collection was created.

We are changing our color families, new Color Collections, similar to Bold Brights, Earth Elements, Rich Regals, Soft Subtles and the Neutrals are getting a makeover.  They are bringing back popular retired In Colors.  To download a chart of our new Color Collection, click here.

In addition to the new families, Stampin' Up! is retiring not-so-popular colors and making room for new colors.  To find out what colors are retiring, click here.

New colors will now be added once a year and they will be here to stay for two years instead of the normal one year.

If your favorite colors are being retired, shop now before supplies run out.  Place an order for any stamp pad, reinker or paper from the Fond Farewell list and receive a 15% discount from me* on those products.  Please email me or contact me to place an order.  This discount is only available from me through April 30, 2010.

In Memory of Papa Coe

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.

I'm following the path God has laid, you see.

I took His hand when I heard His call.

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way,

I found the peace at the close of day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joys.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,

yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.

I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.

My life's been full, I savored much,

Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.

Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.

Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee.

God wanted me now,

He set me free

author unknown

There are heavy hearts in the Coe family today.  The memories you created will never be washed away - they will live on FOREVER.  I know you are in the arms of your wonderful wife, smiling down on the wonderful family you created...you are at peace.  God Bless you...Papa Coe!

Visual, hearing impairments can’t stop Jasper store’s duo

Daily Mountain Eagle Reporter : Jennifer Cohron
Friday, Mar 19, 2010

Bill Adams began as a cashier at the store and was recently promoted to customer service manager.

Wesley Moran and Bill Adams are two of the most popular and easily recognizable employees at Wal-mart in Jasper.

Moran is deaf and Adams is legally blind. Both have been with the store since June 2009.

Wade Tibbs, co-manager at the Jasper store, said the community has embraced the two men.

“They’re an asset to our company. The customers seem like they love both of them,” Tibbs said.

For Moran, the feeling is mutual. He enjoys interacting with people while working in the dry grocery department.

Moran carries a pad and pen in his work apron so he can communicate with customers and co-workers. Gestures and facial expressions help too.

However, some people are uncomfortable around Moran once they realize he is deaf.

“I enjoy it (the job) but sometimes the people won’t talk to me,” Moran wrote. He then acted out a scenario where he gives the notepad to a customer only to have the person pull back looking frightened and shaking his or her head.

Moran, a 1985 graduate of the Alabama School for the Deaf, carried the Olympic torch through Clanton prior to the 1996 Summer Games in Atlanta. He moved to Arley after getting married.

Adams, on the other hand, came to Walker County after receiving a degree in justice studies and political science from Kent State University in 2008.

He started his career at Jasper Wal-mart as a cashier and was recently promoted to customer service manager.

His guide dog, Cactus, accompanies him on the job. He also wears sunglasses because he sees better in lower light.

Adams was born with albinism, a condition characterized by little or no pigment in a person’s eyes, skin and hair.

A magnifier that Adams keeps on his wrist helps him see dollar bills, paperwork, and other items that he handles every day.

Adams said the store’s customers have treated him very well so far.

“They’re always accepting. A couple of people have asked about the glasses and as soon as I explain everything to them, they’re usually amazed that I’m working,” Adams said.

In fact, Adams said he had no trouble finding work until the recession began. He worked for four years as a bus attendant for a transit company, spent two years with a medical facility’s IT department and completed an internship at American Council of the Blind.

Adams said his blindness has become an issue only occasionally while looking for jobs.

“It’s come up, but I always show them that I’m dedicated worker and have no problem putting in 110 percent,” Adams said.

Vintage Label Bookmarker

Stampin' Up! Products
  • Scallop circle punch
  • Trio flower punch
  • 3/4" circle punch
  • Two Tags Sizzix die
Other Product
  • Brad
Place flower, 3/4" circle and scallop circle punch (w/ stamped image) together on the brad and open up prongs.

Adhere solid scallop circle punch onto bookmarker, then adhere top layer. Hiding the brad prongs between layers insures that the bookmarker does not damage the book.

Paper Flower Tutorial

I don't know the original creator but I LOVE the paper flowers that you can create using the Stampin' Up! Scallop circle punch.

You will need 8 scallop circles for the flower; if you plan on mounting the flower to a bookmarker (as illustrated in the tutorial, punch out a total of 9 scallop circles.

Stampin' Up! Products
  • 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (for a better looking flower, avoid using one sided pattern paper).  I used Regal Rose in the tutorial
  • Regal Rose cardstock
  • Rose Red ink
  • Refuge & Strength stamp set
  • Scallop circle punch
  • Sizzix Two Tags (Stampin’ Up! exclusive die)
  • Bone folder
  • Crop-A-Dile
Other Products
